- Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University is the largest university in the vast area from Siberia to Japan. We have about 1000 foreign students from the CIS countries, Asia and Africa. I am very glad that our university has become a platform for the development of cultural ties. It’s true to say that education is the first step to the cultural background, which is crucial for modern society, - noted Tatyana Aleksandrovna.
Raj Jong Singh assured that despite the difference in our cultures, India and Russia would continue to develop cooperation in this direction. During a tour of NSPU, he was especially interested in the rare books collection stored in the university library. Mr. Singh also talked to students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
On June 13, a delegation from the Yangzhou Research Institute of Puppetry Art led by director Hu Zhan (PRC) also visited the university. Another guest was the Chairman of the Foundation for Arts and Culture of the Republic of Korea, Dong Chung.
- Our students regularly go on internships to Asian countries including China. So, we hope that our university will also expand contacts with South Korea. And the more such cultural events take place at NSPU, the better we will understand each other, - Tatyana Aleksandrovna Romm emphasized when meeting with the guests. She added that along with cultural ties, scientific and research cooperation between our countries will also have a chance to develop.
Dong Chung noted that many Korean artists studied at Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M.I. Glinka. This year NSPU has introduced a new major for applicants which is the English and Korean language.
- We’re looking forward to enrich our Russian and Chinese cultural backgrounds. We are also very pleased to have this opportunity to participate in the Russian festival and get acquainted with NSPU. We hope that more Russian students will be able to come to China for exchange studies and internships, - said the head of the Chinese delegation, Hu Zhang.
The Chinese delegates performed a puppet show in the Reading room of the NSPU library. This performance was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the USSR and the PRC. The cane puppets in the hands of the artists from the Celestial Empire performed Chinese and Hawaiian dances and painted a picture which was later presented to one of the spectators as a gift for the correct answer. After the bright show, the performers themselves became spectators. The head of the IKIMP Department of Folk-Art Culture and Music Education, Nina Aleksandrovna Chikunova, and 4th year IKIMP student Anastasia Karpova showed them the Nativity scene at a traditional Russian puppet theater that used to stage Christmas performances.
All the guests from India, China and South Korea went on excursions around the NSPU museum. The senior teacher of the Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Primary Education Ekaterina Ivanovna Ledeneva presented a collection of creative works kept in the museum. Ekaterina Ivanovna told the guests about the ancient puppet traditions of the Russian people and the indigenous peoples of Siberia.
Representatives of the Faculty of Foreign Languages organized the visit of the guests to NSPU. Prof. Ekaterina Alekseevna Kostina, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, noted that all of them are somehow related to the field of education.
- We invited our guests to the university in order to expand cooperation with the countries they represented, especially India and South Korea. We discussed the possibility of mutual visits with our Korean guest. We hope to conclude a memorandum of cooperation between NSPU and the Seoul Department of Education. And the representative of India, Mr. Singh, promised that he would work with a number of Indian universities on possibilities for cooperation too, - said Ekaterina Alekseevna.
