NSPU and Rosatom have enjoyed a successful partnership for several years. Since 2023, the university has been involved in the “Teacher for Rosatom” project, aimed at training educators for schools in the cities where the corporation operates. In 2024, Irina Ivanovna Shulga, Alexandra Sergeevna Vereshchagina, and Marina Nikolaevna Sukhonosenko took part in an industry conference at the Mashuk Knowledge Centre in Pyatigorsk. Additionally, Irina Ivanovna Shulga and Tatyana Nikolaevna Dobrynina attended the Festival of Pedagogical Excellence in Obninsk with students from IFMITO and IESEN. Students also participated in the AtomSkills championship of professional skills in Yekaterinburg, where they enjoyed an excursion to the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant and visited other cities where Rosatom operates.
- Rosatom conducts lots of educational and professional tours, inviting students and teachers from pedagogical universities to the cities where the corporation operates, allowing them to engage with colleagues and schoolchildren. These cities represent some of the most advanced technological environments in the country, as servicing nuclear power plants needs specialised competencies. These skills must be cultivated through an appropriate educational framework in schools. As a result, many students are keen to explore the opportunities offered by the Technopark of Universal Pedagogical Competencies and the Pedagogical Technopark “Quantorium” at NSPU, - says Irina Ivanovna Shulga. She also notes that after visiting nuclear power plants and the cities where they are located, the NSPU students begin to consider the possibility of pursuing employment there.
For the scholarship students, such a strong recognition of their interest in Rosatom's programmes came as a surprise.
- I have been involved in Rosatom programmes for three years now: I visited the city of Zarechny, home to the Beloyarsk hydroelectric power station, participated in a conference for Physics teachers in Pyatigorsk, and recently attended a festival of pedagogical excellence in Obninsk, where a Physics tournament took place. I find this programme very rewarding as it provides me with new ideas as a Physics teacher and gives me a chance to connect with educators from various generations. I also encourage my students at school to consider a teaching career, for example, I share my experiences about my university and my studies, and they listen with great interest. Hopefully, one of them will definitely choose to follow the same path, - says Rosatom scholarship recipient Irina Plotnikova, a first-year Master's degree student at IFMITO NSPU, specialising in "Teaching Physics in a Digital Educational Environment."
