The largest number of applications was traditionally submitted to Moscow State Pedagogical University (more than 47,000 applications), followed by Herzen University (more than 43,000) and Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (more than 28,000).
In 2024, Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU) reaffirmed the strong appeal of pedagogical disciplines among applicants. The university successfully captured the interest of school graduates through its proactive career guidance initiatives. Specifically, NSPU currently oversees 125 psychological and pedagogical classes in schools across the Novosibirsk region and frequently organises career guidance events, open days, and meetings with schoolchildren.
- The significant interest in pedagogical specialisations is mainly linked to the implementation of measures to support teachers, enhance the status of the teaching profession, construct new schools, provide access to the latest equipment for educators, and create conditions that allow students to realise their potential. The Acting Rector of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, Sergey Aleksandrovich Nelyubov, underscored that this statement is clearly demonstrated by the example of NSPU.
A total of 37,700 budget places were allocated to the pedagogical universities under the Ministry of Education for the 2024 admission campaign. The priority is given to programmes for training Mathematics and Computer science teachers, Foreign language teachers, Russian language and Literature teachers, as well as specialists in the psychological and pedagogical fields.
In 2025, the number of budget places in pedagogical universities will continue to be substantial, exceeding 37,000, and the quota for company-sponsored education will remain at 30%. This will offer additional support to young individuals aspiring to pursue a career in the teaching profession.
