During his visit the foreign guest conducted a number of workshops in English for students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages NSPU. The program included the following topics: “The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”, “The Historical and cultural background of the nation’s formation”, “A Language Map of Great Britain: modern languages, dialects, dead languages”.
- Paul McMullan’s visit was a return visit for us as a delegation of NSPU departments’ heads went to language schools in Great Britain last year where they managed to establish partnership contracts, - says Elena Bekhtenova, Head of the Department of International Activities and Academic Mobility, - Cooperation with foreign language schools is our priority, it gives our students and teachers an opportunity to learn foreign languages and participate in internships abroad.
The NSPU delegates organised a tour for Paul McMullan around the university and then provided an introduction to the collection of rare books in the NSPU library and Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.
- It was a pleasant surprise for us when a delegation from Siberia came to our language school, - said Paul McMullan. – During my visit I saw that your university provides highly-qualified language training. I’m sure that our meeting will give interesting opportunities in the international relations.
During the visit, it was agreed to establish partnerships between NSPU and the language school “International House Belfast”. For further cooperation, the partners plan to conduct joint activities for students and teachers in teaching and learning English.
