University Ranking for Communication Strategies: NSPU Takes Leading Positions

The project is designed to develop information openness of universities and improve communication with applicants, students, the scientific community and employers.

- In 2018, we launched our first “Social Navigator” program. It included a group of universities of the “5-100” project, and later a group of flagship universities. Although there are still many questions to ask, we decide to conduct pilot studies and create a platform that could help universities and those who are interested to get precise, reliable and latest information, - said the project manager, Head of the Education and Social Projects Department Natalya Vladimirovna Tyurina.

In the ranking of university representation in the media and social media, NSPU is in the top 3 among universities in the Novosibirsk region, along with Novosibirsk State University and Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management. NSPU is in the top 5 universities of the Siberian Federal District in this category. According to the results, in December 2022 the university scored more than 4,500 points in the total index.

Moreover, NSPU was ranked 4th in the audience engagement indicator among other universities in the Novosibirsk region in December 2022. The total ranking index amounted to almost 560 thousand visits to the site, views of posts on the VKontakte social network and the Telegram channel. NSPU entered the top 10 among pedagogical universities in this ranking indicator. It’s worth mentioning that only Novosibirsk and Omsk got into the top ten positions among other Siberian pedagogical universities.

According to the index of references in popular science media, NSPU entered the top 5 among the universities of the Novosibirsk region and the top 10 among the universities of the Siberian Federal District.

Vasily Cherny, Brand Analytics Director of Strategic Communications noted that universities need to build up effective strategies in communication in order to attract best applicants. Those tools are also essential with other partners such as educational departments, potential business partners, specialized and federal media, and so on. The ranking system should help universities evaluate their work in all these areas.

The integral communication efficiency ranking figures will be published at the end of 2023. It will help universities to assess the effectiveness of their communications with target audiences: applicants, students, departments, representatives of the business community and the media. The total result for each university will be calculated as the sum of the indicators in three rankings for the year, reduced to a 100-point scale. Thus, the university will be able to score up to 300 points.
